About
Thomas Workman, Ph.D. is the Assistant Director of the Center for Collaborative and Interactive Technology (CCIT) at Baylor College of Medicine. He currently leads the Translation and Production unit for the John M. Eisenberg Center for Clinical Communications and Decisions Science (housed in CCIT), the nation's single translation and dissemination center for AHRQ's Effective Health Care Program. Before coming to BCM, Tom was an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies teaching Health Communication at the University of Houston-Downtown. Tom currently serves as a Fellow for the Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Drug, and Violence Prevention, the Council of Advisors for The Network Addressing Alcohol and Other Drug Issues, and the Advisory Board for the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy, and is the immediate past-chair of NASPA's Alcohol and Other Drug Knowledge Community (serving from 2007 to 2010). In 2009, Tom was given the Facilitator's Award with his long-time colleague Linda Major for their work in reducing high-risk drinking and related problems at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Tom consults for several communities and organizations in coalition development, communication planning, and media advocacy. He serves on the review board of several academic journals and has published a variety of articles, chapters, and monographs.
